Jade’s date with her boys in Yarraville Village
When Jade booked me for a motherhood session, I was sooo thrilled. Why? She would have to be the happiest person I know. With a playful heart and that killer smile of hers I was ready for this. This was going to be SO MUCH FUN.
I salute you Jade. You make it your mission every year to document your family. You must have a neat little time capsule of your tribe. Preach it sister! This year was Jade’s opportunity to get in the frame and celebrate her relationship with her boys, before they get too old for public displays of affection. The setting? Yarraville village, a vibrant community space and a place they call home. Their heart space.
Her boys energy was electric and there’s nothing Jade wanted more than for me to capture that, as well as some cosy moments before they’re too cool for mumma cuddles. First stop milkshakes at Alfa Bakehouse, then Declan’s pick – the Sun Theatre mural, then the pop up park, and lastly The Younger Sun Bookshop which is their weekly hang out.
I suppose we can all take a leaf out of Jade’s book, and make a point about being present in photos with our kids. It’s one thing to have photos of our kids on our walls for our benefit, but what about when we’re long gone? Our kids will want to remember us too. Cuddling them, playing and laughing hysterically at their jokes. So many mums put off their photo being taken with their kids because they’re waiting for the right moment. The moment when they are feeling and looking confident with themselves. There’s no time like the present, because life gets in the way sometimes and before we know it years have gone by. Even if you’re taking selfies with your kids on your phone, these images will be cherished in the future. #getintheframe #existinphotos
I can hardly believe the awesomeness you’ve captured. Forever grateful. So very glad I put myself in the picture and took this chance to see us through your eyes. This is the best birthday gift I could ever wish for. THANK YOU! xoxo – Jade
