Back to school blues
School holidays – you have been both adventurous and thoroughly restorative. I’ve completely immersed myself in relishing every inch of my kid’s creative and wondrous minds while I’ve had them all to myself. But those back to school blues have hit hard!
However in my head, I’ve been reflecting on the past. The past that seems to have gone by in a heartbeat. Those facebook memories zapping me every time they show up in the morning. Reminding me of how time has flown.
It was a pretty big decision to send my youngest to school this year. Now here we are. On the doorstep of the beginning of her school life. Mourning is a bizarre analogy, but it feels as though those baby years have just been whisked away. And with that comes a new chapter. An exciting one. One that has it’s own challenges.
In January I basked in their shadow and dove in head first, barely coming up for air. For what reason? I don’t know, I guess I was trying to cling onto whatever ounce of infancy remained. Or maybe it was something else. Something scarier and more confronting. What am I going to do with myself?
Without stating the obvious, my daily life will contain more of what I already do, however something’s been eating at me for some time now. My role as a mum and wife is well engrained, but it’s time to dig deep and find me again. I’ll call it the: Journey back to me. And a step in the right direction is heading to the Seven Sisters Festival. If you’re going, I’d love to meet up and connect with you. Let the discovery begin…
Peace
